how many IUIs with MF?

How many IUIs would you do when dealing with male factor infertility? I have read anywhere from 3-6. Just wanted to know the experience on this board.

I think it depends on a few things - how severe the MFI is, does your insurance mandate x number of IUIs before IVF, does your insurance cover IVF, personal preference, age, etc.

Everyone is different with their own paths so you really have to make the decision that's right for you.

For me, I'm in my 2ww of my first IUI. As of now, DH and I are planning on 3 or 4 IUIs. If that doesn't work, we'll move on to IVF (well, back to IVF since we had a failed cycle already...long story). But IVF is totally OOP for us, so that's a big decision that I'm hoping we don't have to make.

I agree with the PP. It all depends on the severity of the MFI. My DH had chemotherapy so we are working with mainly frozen sperm and minimal fresh sperm - so we went straight to IVF. I am currently in the middle of stimming.

I agree with the posts above. With my husband's MFI, we were told to skip IUI's and go right for IVF. Our insurance would have allowed us to skip IUI's bc his numbers were so bad. From my research and experience, IUI's are *usually* not reccommended for MFI.

Thanks ladies. We are dealing with low morph and RE feels since DH has a good count IUI is worth trying--we will see! it works but just thinking ahead in case it doesn't. Thanks again
