How many hours between motrin and tylenol?

DS is teething pretty bad. I gave him tylenol at 5 pm. Is it okay to give motrin at now (8pm)?

yes - you can alternate motrin in between the tylenol time.

Can I piggyback off of this - took DS to PM Peds with a fever of 104.1. They gave him motrin at 6:30 but he is still hot. When can I start with the tylenol? Is it 3 hours after the motrin or can it be sooner?

tylenol and motrin have too different active igrediants that can be given together but it is better to wait atleast an hour after giving ty to give motrin
tylenol is every 4 hours and motrin is every 6

so if you give ty at 3pm
you can give motrin at 4
then ty at 7pm
and motrin at 10pm
then ty at 11pm
and so forth but only give if fever will not go down you wanna check temp in between to see if medication is needed so that you do not give it if it is not needed...

Giving Tylenol and Motrin. It’s OK to use them together. They are separate drugs and don’t interfere with each other. Both work well treating fevers, either alone or together. I usually tell patients to use Tylenol first, as there has been more experience with the safety of Tylenol.

. In the example, you can give Tylenol every 4 hours, Motrin every 6 hours. Use the full dose of each. Make sure the infant or child is drinking plenty of fluids
