I stopped pumping / BFing about a week ago and still have a little milk leaking. I thought it would have dried up by now scratch:

How long does it normally take?

Background:
Towards the end of my BFing days, I was pumping only about once or twice per day. The last few days before i stopped, i was only producing about a half ounce total in a 1/2 hour pumping session.

I feel a tiny bit engorged now but not terrible (and because i was producing so little at the end, this is the most pain i've felt so far since stopping to pump)

I weaned myself off starting Thangisving (4 pumps a day) and finally completed stopped around New Years.. It felt umcofrtable for a few days but eventually got better. Believe it or not, I still feel full sometimes and slight burning and I know there is still some milk iin there =)

Re: how long until your milk dries up?

It might take at least a couple of weeks to completely dry up. I am in the process of weaning too (slowly) and was actually surprised how quickly my milk supply dropped - but didn't stop completely.

I am still pumping 3X a day to relieve "engorgement" (I put that in quotes b/c it's nothing like when I was F/T EBF) but after the first couple of days of lumps / hard ducts from skipping sessions, it seems to be slowly dissipating. I think I will be completely done expressing anything in the next 2 weeks, if not before.

It can probably be done quicker but you may leak for a little while until your hormones sort out. Chat Icon

I started using a manual pump while I stopped pumping (I EPed the whole time) so I think it was gradual. Right now, I am dry in boob, but the other one still has milk Chat Icon
