how long to wait before...
i prime new sheetrock and spackle.
if they are done taping and spackling today, can i prime tonight?
is there a waiting period?

wait only if the walls are still wet and/or needs to be sanded ... otherwise you can prime.

i would say wait a day and remember when going over where their is spackle go over once and not over and over again because it will make the spackle wet again making it come off onto the roller (our main issue) if you have your heat on maybe tonight but it really needs to dry before wetting it again.

usually after spackling you need to sand. are they sanding for you? it all depends and with the rainy weather it's going to take longer to dry. so turn the heat up a little more to help it dry. you might have to wait two days until you prime the walls.

crap!! i wanted to get on it! oh-well, yes, they are sanding for me. he told me today would be it, but they saw that they need to do another coat of spackle. boy, i have to tell you this guy is good with this stuff. he is doing a real nice job. anyone looking for a handyman i got one that has been completely reliable!

if he is really good with the spackling, then he won't even have to sand that much. we had someone help us with two areas in our house and he barely had to sand. that is someone that really knows how to spackle. you are almost there, so be patient and you will have painted walls soon.
