How long is a table runner supposed to be???
I bought one I loved in New Mexico, but (silly me) didn't measure the table beforehand. It's too long - maybe 8' and the table is 6 1/2 feet long. Is it ok if it hangs over the sides of the table a bit, or should I ask my dry cleaner to hem it?

It should hang over the table. My mom just made one for me but I don't remember how many inches she told me it would hang over on each side (I haven't received it yet).

Okay, I called my mother  . It will hang 8" on each side (this includes 3" of fringe). My table is 6'.

They are usually out of the longer lengths in the store so I accidently bought one that does not hang over. It ends about 2" from each end. I actually really like the way it looks like that.
