When DD#2 was that age (3m), she took that long too. By mistake I used a Level 2 nipple (DD#1 used Level 2s) and she did great with them! I stopped using the Level 1s and have been using Level 2 ever since. No problems and she drinks 7 oz in 15 minutes, that is, when she isn't refusing her formula!

IMO, if it takes them more than 30 minutes, its time to change the nipple.
DS at 4m months was already on level 2 nipple doing 30 minutes, at 5m level 3 nipple 5-10 minutes

DD (3m) has been on the medium flow nipple since 2 weeks old. She drinks a 5 or 6 oz bottle within 5 minutes.

I agree with this. We switched DS to Level 2 at about 1 month because it was taking forever for him to finish a bottle. Now it takes him about 15 minutes or so to finish 4-5oz.

i think you should switch to level 2. dd will be 4 months this week and i switched her 2-3 weeks ago bc she was taking 40 minutes for a bottle. now it is around 10 minutes if she is really hungry and alittle longer is she is playing with it.
she also took longer on Born free than Dr. Browns. i dont think she likes the wide neck nipples.

time for a faster nipple
DS is almost 4 months (will be next week) and on average, about 15mins for 6-7 oz!

switch the level, jo. if he can hold his head up, which he probably can, then you can go to level 2.

DS was taking around 45 mins to eat a 5 oz bottle. I upped the nipple flow and now he eats it in about 10 mins.
(he's 8 weeks old)

sounds like you need to switch the nipple. we changed DD at 2 months old.

DS is 3 months old. He uses a level 2 (or medium) nipple and drinks 6oz in about 20 minutes.

DD is 8 weeks and drinks 5-6 oz in about 15 mins tops-shes on level 1. She didn't do as well with wide neck nipples-and since switching to Dr. Browns its so much better!

Re: how long does it take your 2-4 month old to drink a bottle?
thanks for the input.
DS has severe GERD and with that the faster flow seems to exasperate it. It's a catch 22. We had tried a couple of weeks ago and he seemed to do well then he had the most horrific next few nights and days followed by refusal which led to dehydration and a visit to children's hospital.
I think it's time too but afraid of him being uncomfortable or in pain
