How long do you let a cough or cold go on

How long do you let a cough or cold go on before you go the doctor if there is no fever or anything else attached? DS has had a cough for over a week and it is phlegmy. I don't know if we should contact the dr. soon if he has no fever or anything else!

I callled my doc after 6 days for the same thing. The nurse said if there's no fever, he's still eating, and is playful/smiling not to worry until 2 weeks.

If you're concerned I'd just call and ask if they want you to bring him in.
