How long did your colostrum last after DC was born?
I'm 8 days PP and I'm pretty sure that's still all I'm getting right now. Does that seem right? TIA.

Did you have a c-section? If so, it can take longer for your milk to come in. Why do you think it's only colostrum?

I would say about 5-6 days until I felt my milk come in.

It's yellow and I'm only getting about 3-4 ounces when I pump.

Re: How long did your colostrum last after DC was born?
your milk is in..you wouldnt be getting 3-4 oz of colostrum...just like AN OZ!! 3-4 oz is a lot for that early on!!! That is great! The baby should only take 2 oz if bottle fed..so you are producing double that!
My milk was never white white....it was a yellow-white!
and c-section moms take longer esp if you didn't go through labor...that helps tell your body to start producing the milk...
mine took about a week to come in!

ITA!
I still at 6 weeks only get about 3-4 ounces when I pump.
When I was in the hospital I had to pump a little bit and it was only colostrum and believe me... you could tell! It barely filled the bottom of the medela container thingie!
You're doing great if you're getting 3-4 ounces already!!!

Yea, but if I pump again in the same day, I only get about 1 ounce. What should I expect my output to be by week 2-3? Thanks!

This is SO reassuring...thanks. I'm hoping that it is colostrum and milk combined, because the colostrum never really came in on it's own. The first time I pumped I got about 3 ozs and it's really yellow.

The color of milk varies from yellow, to white to even a light blue. If you are getting 3-4 oz, your milk is most DEFINITELY in.

No problem!
Mine was pretty yellow at first too, but now it's very white!

Re: How long did your colostrum last after DC was born?
If you're getting 3-4 oz, that's definitely milk, not colostrum. Are you BFing and pumping? How often are you pumping? Make sure you're eating enough and drinking plenty of water. Your supply will likely be the best first thing in the morning. The more often you pump/BF, the better your supply should be. It may take a few weeks to pump more than 3-4 oz at a time, but that shouldn't be a problem. Right now, your newborn's stomach is very small and doesn't need as much milk.

Don't remember with my first - this time my milk came in the day I left the hospital so 2 days later (in the evening though).

Agreed. I remember that my milk was yellowish for about the first month, and then it was completely white.
Congrats to you!
