How long did.....

you wait to start TTC? I'm sure this has been done numerous times butI'm just curious. DH and I will be married 1 year this coming September and are starting to "think" about it. Do you think it would be too soon? (DH and I are both young, I'm 23 adn he is almost 25).

TIA!

Re: How long did.....

I don't think that anyone but you and DH can decide if it's too soon or not. We were never trying, it just happened. Best thing that ever happened to us, and I'd say we were the LEAST prepared we could have been since we were married less than three months at the time. But hey, that's why it's good you have nine months to get things in order!Chat Icon

I think it's a personal thing. Some people are 30 years old and still aren't ready to have children. And some are young like you and are ready. But let me tell you once you do have children there is no going back. I know my life is never the same and will never be again. I can't go to the bathroom and not have an audience.... Chat Icon I haven't slept well since my son was born that was 2 1/2 years ago and I have one on the way so...I know I will never sleep again! Chat Icon But being a mommy is something I would never change and the experience is absolutely amazing! Good luck on your decison!

And oh, I never ttc. I got pregnant 5 months before my wedding! Chat Icon so none of that stress about infertility!

I thin whenever you both feel ready is the answer to your question. No one can answer that for you. We started trying and got PG less then a year of being married.

I think it is a personal decision.

Since you have the personal decision from the other posters, I won't repeat.

We started to TTC after we had been married one year, got pregnant immediately. We had many things factoring into the decision.

-We were both 32.
-I had a friend who experienced 5 years of infertility beginning when she was 25.
- We were financially in pretty good shape (if you're not planning on staying at home, daycare costs are pretty Chat Icon )
- Relationshipwise, we were in a good place.

I don't think anyone can truly be ready for the changes a baby brings - no matter how old they are or how long they've been married.

Re: How long did.....

This pregnancy was a complete surprise. Our 1st anniversary is 4 days after my due date ang we are 25 and 26 years old.

To be completely honest, I am not ready. I am terrified. I really thought we'd be married about five years before we'd have our first child. It is selfish but in a way I feel I am being robbed of my 20s. My mother didn't get married or have children till well into her 30s. So I only have that view of experiences.

Life will never be the same. Don't get me wrong, it wil be wonderful, but it will be different. A whole new level of responsibility. I'm apprehensive but it will all work out. I'm still getting used to the fact that I will be known as someone's mother for the rest of my life.

We decided to wait at least a year after our wedding since we weren't really sure we were ready (we still wanted to travel, enjoyed having parties, etc.) We both realized shortly after we were ready to start. (We are in our 30's) and it took us 5 cycles to conceive.

Good luck with whatever you decide!Chat Icon

Re: How long did.....

We had been dating for many years before we got married so we knew we wanted to start a family pretty much right after the wedding. We got lucky..married in August and conceived in Sept. I am in my late 20's and he is in his late 30's so we knew it was the right time for us.

As the rest of the girls already said - it has to be a personal decision...when you are both ready you will know it. You wont have any doubts.

good luck!
