How long before prunes will take their magic effect?

I had to go off the 3 day rule of introducing stuff to Bella She only had carrots for 2, but the oatmeal I'm giving her has bound her up (she hasn't gone in a while and she's usually a 3-4 poop a day girl ) So I bought a little jar of Earth's Best oatmeal and prunes and gave her some this morning.

Just wondering when to expect the explosion?

DEpends upon the child. but probably within 24 hours.

If it happens again, I'd give her very little cereal and mostly prunes that way there is a higher water content.

At 6 months of age some peds say you can add ground flax seed to their food. It's high in fiber and omega-3's. It's available at Trader Joe's and health food stores, just make sure it's ground and give about 1/4 teaspoon to start.

Prunes never worked for my DS. I had better luck giving him a few ounces of water or some water mixed with prune or pear juice.
