how horrible am I?

DH left for work this a.m. and I walked him to the door (i noticed he left me a card and present) he got me the sweetest card Mothers Day cad that said (we started out as two hearts and now we are 3) so i open the box and there's a pretty triple heart pendant on a chain from fortunoff. Of course i got teary and call him right away to thank him and told him sweet it was etc... but

although i LOVE the card - and the significance of the 3 hearts (i'm not crazy about the pendant) its not my style of jewelry and i'm doubting i'm going to wear it which KILLS me because i always return stuff he buys me. He just does not get my taste. I still have a double heart pendant from Macys he got me at christmas that i've never worn and keep meaning to return??? Please Help. he was So proud of himself. he is SOOO far from mushy, and yes i know i'm picky. am i horrible and ungrateful.

I'm just SOO practical that i'd rather have something i wear and i know he spent $ on it... what should i do??

anybody?

That's a tough one; I don't know what I would do (I could be in the same boat one day, DH does not get my taste but buys me sentimental stuff).

Sorry-I am know help.

Re: how horrible am I?

Regardless of your taste- you need to suck it up on this one as it holds way more meaning to your husband than just another piece of jewelry- to him it's representative of the changes you are about to go through.

ETA: you are not horrible

I am the same way. DH knows not to buy me any jewelry anymore because I"m so picky. He called me from Fortunoff yesterday and I told him to please walk out of the store and we will go back and pick something out together once this baby is here.

I usually am honest when I don't like the pieces he gets me - but he can also read it on my face the second I open the box. Not sure what you should do. Sorry!Chat Icon

Put it on right now (or a few mins before your DH comes home!) and make an effort to put it on every once in a while. I'm sure it won't kill you (Chat Icon) and think about how happy it will make your DH! Chat Icon

I don't mean to be a b!tch, but suck it up. I am sure it is beautiful, even if it "isn't your taste". Go over to the parenting board and see how some husbands didn't do anything and their kids are born already, you are lucky your DH put nice thought into a gift.

I don't mean to flame you, but it is hard to see people who would love just a card and you are complaining about a necklace.

I agree & if he asks why you don't wear it often, tell him it's for special occasions.

you are definitely not horrible!!! but i probably wouldn't return this if i were you. your DH obviously put a lot of thought into it and it is very meaningful to him. so i would keep it and wear it for special occasions, like every mother's day!

This is a tough one....I would say to really keep this one in particular because of it's sentiment. He was probably really proud buying it. As for the other jewelry, maybe you could bring it up nonchalantly one day, not around a holiday or when he gives you one, and he'll get the hint Chat Icon

I know I am lucky and I AM grateful - as i posted. I feel bad that he spent $ on something that isn't going to be worn when there are things we need more. The reason i posted was because i was not sure whether to keep it or be practical and return it. I certainly don't think it warrants an attack and regret posting

Re: how horrible am I?

If your looking for opinions...I would say Keep it...Its the thought that counts. Wouldnt matter to me if it wasnt my style..If it were from DH, I would love it regardless and find a way to wear it. He picked it out for you and returning it to me would say, he didnt do a good job, prove he doesnt " know you" and just make the situation worse.

And you titled the thread, "Am I horrible" ...so you feel bad and wanted honest opinions...

I dont mean to hurt Your feelings, Im just being honest as I see it.

No one attacked you- and you asked for opinions.

There are times when being practical is hurtful- and this is one of them. You say you've returned most other things he's bought you- let this be the one thing you keep and wear because of the sentimental value rather than it being "your taste".
