How healthy are you eating?

My first trimester was horrible. I ate terribly because I was so nauseous.

Now that I'm halfway through, I'm eating better, but I can't help but think I could improve.

Do you normally eat breakfast everyday and what do you eat?

How often do you cheat? Ie. Coke, sweets, dessert, fast food, fried food, etc.

What do you usually snack on?

What are you drinking?

Are you getting fruits and veggies in everyday, and what kinds?

Do you avoid processed foods?

I eat oatmeal with flaxseed and a banana M-F. On the weekend, I will eat an egg with cheese and ham or bacon ( nitrate and preservative free).

I eat several small pieces of chocolate M-F since they sit in a bowl at work Chat Icon I will have a coke once a week. I may have ice cream once or twice a week. I'll have a small bag of chips every once in a while (maybe twice a month?).

I usually snack on grapes, apples, hummus or Greek yogurt.

I drink a cup of tea in the morning. I have been trying to drink more water. I'm someone who hates water, so I've definitely improved in that area. I will have a coke once a week, and an iced tea once or twice a week.

Lately, I have been neglecting my veggies. Sometimes I'm too lazy to cook them for dinner.

For the most part I avoid processed foods. I rarely eat frozen foods--maybe a piece of texas toast.

well im still in my first trimester and feeling like crap so basically im eating only what i can stomach. some days im not even hungry for most of the day.

i guess im no help to you but just wanted to say that i too have been bad in the first trimester so you know you are not alone.

My first trimester I only ate what I was able to get down, which was basically just carbs. Now, in my second trimester, I'm trying to eat healthier. I always eat breakfast. Usually it's cereal and eggs, sometimes fruit if I remember. I usually try to cook somewhat healthy dinners. I try to make myself eat vegetables, but I know I'm not getting in the recommended amount. Once in a while I cheat and get fast food or something like that. Instead of icecream, I buy frozen yogurt because I figure that's at least somewhat healthier. I'm not much of a soda drinker. I mostly have water and sometimes juice. For the most part, I've actually been eating the same way I did before I got pregnant. I've just cut out coffee, coldcuts, and alcohol.

I'm only 9 weeks.
Overall I would say I'm eating prett healthy.

Everyday i have a big spinach salad with lots of veggies and grilled chicken.

Breakfast = eggs or oatmeal

Lunch = salad or a sandwich. If I take a sandwich then I will bring sliced cucumbers or zucchini for dipping

Dinner is usually a grilled salmon or chicken or steak with steamed spinach or another veggie. Smetimes a baked potato but I'm trying to really limit carbs

Snacks = yogurt, an orange, string cheese, applesauce, grapes, banana, sometimes a piece of whole grain toast with peanut butter

Drinks = only water and 1 am coffee

For the most part I am avoiding processed foods but if I'm really craving a treat I do have some

Usually I allow myself one "treat" each day which is either ice cream or a pudding cup with fat free whip cream.


I do cheat 1-2 times per week and have fast food or take out. We had Chinese food tonight so asked for brown rice. I had burger king the other day so I got a small size whopper junior meal to save some calories. I'm trying not to be a total gluttonChat Icon

sugarplums i am embarassed to even post my eating habits, i feel like you're all so healthy!! Chat Icon

let me preface by saying that in 2009 i went on a diet and lost about 25 pounds or so and kept it off up until (almost) this pregnancy - so i was VERY concious about every single thing i ate, and worked out 5x a week.
towards the end of TTC i had maybe put back on about 5lbs just from stress/depression.

since being pregnant, i'm definitely not as concious. i'm not having a free for all, but as someone who watched every fat gram, i'm using this time to just allow my body to tell me what it needs. and if it needs ice cream, so be it Chat Icon i'll worry again after i give birth.

for drinks... well i used to drink about 3-4 large cups of coffee a day, and now i cannot even stomach the smell or taste of hot coffee - so i usually get one decaf iced coffee a day, small or medium, from d&d or starbucks. i occasionally have a glass of decaf soda or lemonade but try to stick to water.
breakfast lately i have been having a bagel with cream cheese and oj almost everyday. i used to eat a much lighter bfast - but i am up at 4:15 for work every day and don't eat bfast til 8-9am, so i find if i have a more substantial breakfast, it holds me over much better. once a week i usually get an egg sandwich.
for lunch i stay healthy. i either have a salad, or a homemade yogart parfait - organic low fat yogart with berries and granola.
dinner varies. sometimes i cook - and when i do, i tend to cook low-fat, fairly healthy with veggies. but then again, sometimes we do take out of some sort. or sometimes, like tonight, i just want ice cream for dinner.
i very rarely snack in between meals - if i do though, i aim for fruit of some sort.

Not so much. I was nauseous for the past six weeks and lived on carbs and cheese. I try to eat other things, and I pay for it. I just hope my prenatal is enough to fill in what I'm missing.

- Yes, cereal with milk, toast, or scrambled eggs.

How often do you cheat? Ie. Coke, sweets, dessert, fast food, fried food, etc

- I have a cup of coffee in the morning. I never eat fast food (unless you count Panera - I'm addicted to their mac and cheese). No soda, but I never liked it. I go easy on sweets/desserts. Nothing deep fried; the idea just skeeves me.

What do you usually snack on?

- Crackers, raisins, a granola bar.

What are you drinking?

- Water with lemon, or lemonade (sour drinks help my nausea). I just need to drink more of it.

Are you getting fruits and veggies in everyday, and what kinds?

- Trying, but anything super sweet (including fruit) makes me sick. I'm ok with veggies.

Do you avoid processed foods?

- Yes, but I try to do this anyway. I rarely eat cold cuts, and when I cook I stick with mostly organic produce and meats.

-Yes everyday I wake up so hungry and have chex with a cut up banana and then if i'm still hungry i'll have an english muffin with jelly

-If I feel like having a Coke i'll have one can but other than that I drink my 60 oz. of water a day and then prob another 40 oz of juice and my one cup of coffee in the morning

What do you usually snack on?

-I've been craving fruits and vegetables from the beginning so I'll have cantaloupe or veggies but right before bed I usually have a couple oreo's or a hostess cupcake

What are you drinking?

-Water, juice and ice tea mostly

Are you getting fruits and veggies in everyday, and what kinds?

-cantaloupe, strawberries, banana and apples everyday I have one of these and baby carrots and salad and cucumbers maybe 3 or 4 times a week also asparagus at least once a week

Do you avoid processed foods?

If im craving it I have it but have only really been craving fresh fruits veggies and chicken and beef

I think I've been eating a pretty well balanced diet, I eat oatmeal, cereal, toast for breakfast, waffles and eggs with turkey bacon.
I try to eat healthy lunch like eggs with tomatoes and cheese, tuna fish salad (every other week or so, yogurt , sometimes 1 a week) or just have a fruit salad .
I enjoy cooking , so I cook dinner 5-6 nights a week and I always use fresh ingredients so I consider that healthy meal. I try to make some kind of salad every night and I eat a lot of it.
I snak mostly on fruit, I also enjoy popcorn, nuts , ice cream and things like that. I don't really watch what I eat really, I just eat what I (we) like /love and it's mostly the good stuff Chat Icon
