How early will your doctor sign you out of work?
I thought it was 4 weeks. Is that standard or do you need to fit a specific criteria proving you really can't work?

my dr. said 37 weeks. Before then, I think there has to be an actual reason.

because of my commute (over 1 hour) my dr said absolutely no more than 36 weeks

I love my dr, but kind of wishing I had yours! That's great! I work in NYC and have an hour and 1/2 commute. My doc just says "see how you feel..." but hasn't told me I have to stop or offered a note. He just said don't even think about it if it snows/ices. I'll be 38 weeks on Wed. If I show any progress at my internal, I'm going to beg for a note.

because i teach yoga, my doctor just rec'd that i stop teaching around 35 weeks....and that's what i did.

My doctor wouldn't even enteratin the idea of anything more than 2 weeks before, and even that he gave me a hard time about. I felt like saying buddy, when you have carried a baby in your stomach for nine months, then you can tell me to just stick it out to the last minute! I am so switching doctors for the next baby.

For my 1st pregnancy, I commuted 1.5-2 hours a day on the LIRR and subway. My dr wanted me out at 36 weeks due to the commute and the fact that I had some high blood pressure around then. I was more than happy to oblige!
