How early did everyone see a heartbeat??
My OB called me today, and they had a cancellation and they want me to come in on Friday. I will be like 5 weeks 4 days. Is it a waste of time to go??

It could be. At 5w4d we saw the sac/yolk sac and fetal pole. We saw the heartbeat the following week at 6w4d

Re: How early did everyone see a heartbeat??
That's up to you, but you should be prepared that there's a chance you will not see a heartbeat.

Are you sure you're getting a sono? Most doctors won't do a sono until at least 8 weeks. If you're getting a sono, be prepared that you may not see a heartbeat yet. It's still pretty early.

Re: How early did everyone see a heartbeat??
if you go in FULLY AWARE that it is too soon to see anything, i think it would be okay....HOWEVER, there is the chance the doctor will choose the wrong words and freak you out...
having gone through that experience...i truly don't know what i'd do...
When was your appointment SUPPOSED to be ?

You just answered your own question - if it will help you relax and be calm and feel better - then GO.
Stressing is no good for you or your body.

Re: How early did everyone see a heartbeat??
I was 5w5days and the tech said the heart had just started beating the night before or early that morning...It was 90bpm, but you could see it flickering on the screen.....It may be to early for a hb, but it's not to early for a sac and the piece of mind everything is on track

That's pretty early to see the HB but it may be possible. This is what we saw:
5w5d - gestational sac 6w5d - heartbeat 7w5d- heard HB

A few of us who have posted here were under the care of an RE when we got pregnant, so it's normal practice to have weekly sono's to check the progress.
Most regular OBs will not see you until you are 8 weeks along because they want to make sure you are far enough along based on your LMP to see/hear the heartbeat.

yes i totally understand, but i was PG last year and lost a baby at 20 weeks so this is really hard me for, and if i saw even just a sac right now, i would feel better.

YOU NEED TO SEE....it really will help you....

Re: How early did everyone see a heartbeat??
call them.
call them NOW...
your friend and your history are enough reasons to call and go earlier than normal.
you're crying because you're emotional...we all are!!!
let's make those tears of sadness happy ones when you see the sac and pole on Friday.

I think you will feel better once you go. My OB would not even do a sono until I was 8 weeks. Just be prepared that you might not see the heartbeat yet.
