How does the take a pic of your check and deposit it work?
I mean, I know how it works but how is it that you can just take a pic of your check with your phone and it gets deposit without the bank actually having the check?

How does the take a pic of your check and deposit it work?
my friend was just telling me that she uses this a lot now but i haven't tried it. she said the bank tells you to hold onto the check for at least 10 days to be sure it clears with no issue.

DH and I use this for our Chase account. Basically they take the routing and account number from the check (picture), and use that info to transfer the money.
Similar to some stores, where you write them a check, they scan it and then give it back to you.

I've done it with Chase in the past! So easy!
And yes, the picture relays the checks routing number and account number from the check and uses that info to electronically take the funds from the bank the check is drawn from.

And what's to stop someone from trying to deposit it again several months later?

I used to work for Chase. If you try to deposit the check later on the system will prompt the teller that the check was already deposited. If for some reason the teller puts it through anyway the check will be returned & the depositor will get a fee.

I do this for personal and business. Once check clears I write void and rip up or in winter burn it. I love never going to the bank.
