How does it work...
we found a house we want to buy in the school district we want to live in and we have our house that we own! Our agent said we might take a little while to sell our house (great house/new construction/ nice location..but not *best of school districts)
We CANNOT afford two mortgages..
so if the new house sellers want to sell (quickly) how do we go about getting that house and selling ours in a decent amount of time?
We moved to this house from a rental so I never had to deal with owning and selling/buying

I'm with ya! We are having the same issue. Being patient is so difficult. Have you thought about making an offer that is contingent upon the sale of your house? This kinda gives you some time to sell. As for how to sell quickly everyone says if its priced right and in good shape you'll be fine. Although this doesnt make me feel good !lol Good luck!

I would love to make an "even trade"  buy house #2 what we can sell house #1 for...even that will be less than what we bought house #1 three years ago (at the freaking height of the market) so we are def preparing ourselves to take a loss   
but I guess being able to end our kids to a better public school will make it all worth it!

we are the same way! We would love to break even at this point but are ready to take a hit for sure! good luck to you...jus tknow you aren't alone! lol
