Yea mine too. I wonder if this day will ever be declared a national holiday (well more of a day of remebrance) I think alot of people would want to be home with their family. It's going to be a sad day.

Re: How do you think tomorrow should be remembered?
we are having a moment of silence also byt then our principals asked for us each to commemorate the day in our own way, appropriate for the age level of our students.
We will be reading the pledge of allegience as a shared reading piece instead of the read aloud in the morning...
and in the afternoon we'll make a chart with the students ideas about why they love to live in america (I teach 1st grade special education and many of them are 1st or 2nd generation to this country) and they'll write their sentences on blue construction paper stars and then we are hanging red and white streamers from them so that they'll be the shooting stars of america.

Re: How do you think tomorrow should be remembered?
I understand what you are saying about a national day of remebrance BUT I think if that happened....it would just turn into another "day-off" day....just like Verterans DAy or Columbus day. Years from now....the memories of the day will fade.
If 9/11 gets a day...so should Pearl Harbor day....and nothing is done for that.

Re: How do you think tomorrow should be remembered?
Melissa, I think that's great. I don't know if teachers in my school are doing things individually in classes. I'm a school counselor and I feel that it so appropriate to have some type of programming tomorrow, but it's just not done

Re: How do you think tomorrow should be remembered?
I think it should be remembered however you want it to be remembered.
I took the day off from work. Everyone in my office is either native Floridians or come from other states and really dont undestand what the day means to me or why I am getting a little homesick right now. I worked there. I spent 5 days a week, 8 - 10 hours a day there, lived, loved and dined there. The summers were my favorite with the farmers market, the shows, the music, the tourists. Tomorrow I want to be home, watch the memorials and just be alone. DH is working which is fine. I just want to be home, listen to a few songs and cry.
I've already gone onto the guest book for the family friend we lost and signed it. I just want to be alone.
I think however you want to spend the day is up to you. Now whether it should be a national holiday is a totally different thread.

Re: How do you think tomorrow should be remembered?
I think it should be a national day of rememberence. It is a day we should not have to work and we shoul be enciuraged to be with our families. My daughter goes to catholic school and they are having amass and a day of rememberence, but I guess that is also because more than a handful of kids lost a parent in the attack. Tomorrow night my church is having a 7:30 mass for all those affected, it;s nice to see the support.

That's precisely what I was going to say. 9/11 should be remembered in the way that is most meaningful for each individual.
