How do you prepare vegetables for your toddler?
DS has been a very picky eater for several months. He eats peas, edamame and Dr. Praeger's veggie pancakes. Sometimes he'll eat carrots, celery and potatoes that were cooked with pot roast or in a stew. He spits out most of the other vegetables I offer.
How can I get him to eat more vegetables? Do you sneak them into other things? How do you prepare the vegetables?

DS only has 4 teeth, none of which are fully in yet. His gums are strong, but I wouldn't feel comfortable giving him raw vegetables yet.

DS likes to snack on frozen peas.
I can get green beans, corn and "hot" peas in him also.

My son LOVES broccoli- I would just boil it until mushy and let him chew on it. How about sweet potatoes? My son loves these as well.

For broccoli I steam them, put them in the food processor so they're tiny tiny, and then I mix it in the mashed potatoes.....lol Otherwise, he'll spit it out.

When went out to eat this weekend, I offered him baked sweet potato and steamed carrots. He spit both of them out.
He liked the asparagus soup DH made a few weeks ago, but soups are usually hit or miss with him.

Re: How do you prepare vegetables for your toddler?
DD is awful with veggies she could live on fruit all day long if I let her..she eats sweet potato..baked with a bit of cinnamon...she loves Dr Praegers..I make spinach pie for her or quiches where I can hide broccoli and what not..she loves my soup so I make her a chicken soup with a ton of veggies in there and she'll eat them that way, but veggies are a contstant struggle for me!!

I either steam my veggies or saute them. Once in a while I will grill them too.

Re: How do you prepare vegetables for your toddler?
I steam my veggies plain and DD#1 and DD#2 both like them- but occasionally if they decides not to eat them I will make chicken broth (no sodium if in a crunch you can use low sodium chicken stock) and cook them in that and make a little chicken soup.
I don't like to get into giving a lot of "extras" but I know a lot of parents who use a tiny bit of ranch - or you could try melting a small amount of shredded cheese on top to entice them.

I let DD dip them in ketchup or she won't eat them.
