How do you organize your pantry? I need help!

My pantry is just a deep tall cabinet with shelves, like a fridge, but deeper and its a mess, can't find anything in the bag and little things flying all over the place.

I need ideas on how to organize. Any examples? Pictures? Products you recommend?

Im like sleeping with the enemy anal.

I have all veggies in a row, all corn together, beans, etc.
I keep pasta all on the bottom shelf together
I have all gravy packets in a little tupperware bin, all in order

All rice is together in another tupperware bin.
I keep all baking items in a seperate cabinet.
I group by category, it just makes it eaier when you go grab something.

i too group by category
i.e. all soups and sauces on one shelf. pasta and rice and side dishes on another

all spices and baking good on another

have you tried putting small shelves in the back to help raise some items up, so you can see them in the back?

they make tiered shelves they sell in BBB or Target that are specifically for this. you can put spices on them or cans if your shelves are deep enough.

put smaller items like packets of things into clear containers.

I have the same kind of pantry and I hate it! Everything just gets pushed to the back and then forgotten about! I was thinking of getting these roll out shelves from BBB, just haven't gotten down there yet.

DH just installed the pull-out shelves and I LOVE IT!!! I can FINALLY see everything I have in there. I bought them at Lowes -- about $50 each. Totally worth it and it was super-easy for him to install.......I also bought the slide-out thing for the garbage can. LOVE IT

I group similar items together, and I create narrow rows of duplicate items going towards the back to save space, kind of like how stores do it.

I organize mine the same way. Since it's too deep to see the back, I do a row of canned stocks and tomatoes going all the way back, then soups next to that, a row of beans, a row of veggies, etc. I try to keep more unusual items I might forget about in one spot near the front.

I group by category too. Top shelf is all the snacky stuff and/or stuff I don't want the kids to have easy access to. Then I group pastas & other sides & grains. cooking staples like flour, oils, various sugars, bread crumbs etc all together. (Everything in plastic containers) Dessert type stuff all together. Crackers all together. Canned items together. Soups, Extra unopened items like marinades, ketchup, pasta sauce all together. I have a few of those baskets that slide onto a shelf and make more space right below the shelf and I put things in those like cupcake cups, nuts, choc chips, sprinkles. My pantry is a closet so I have one of those door shoe organizers with the pockets on the door and that is where I put all small things. If you can't do that I would at least get some stackable shallow bins, preferable that are clear so you can find a spot for all the small things. I'm not anal, I dont line stuff up in even rows or with everything at a 90 degree angle but I would gladly have someone come maintain mine in that fashion. Chat Icon It gets messy at times but it's fairly easy to reorg with a grouping plan in mind.
