How do you make new friends?
I recently moved, and dont work ( mostly because I am 8 months pregnant) I have met absolutely no one, I do not have anyone to talk to other than dh...so now I am awfully homesick for NY, because there I had friends. It has been so long since I have had to, so I just dont remember how...so tell me how do you meet new people?

well after you have the baby, perhaps you can join a gym or yoga class and make friends there. or maybe some kind of mommy and me class so you meet other moms!
if all else fails, you still have us!

I play volleyball and golf so if I were to move to another state or far from friends & family.
Obviously, since you're 8 months pregnant that's not an option for you so I would recommend maybe volunteering somewhere.
I'm a big animal lover and if I could, I would donate my time and efforts to the animal shelter that we got our pup from. I don't know if a shelter would be good for you (know that I think about it since some of the animals that come in are sick) but there are plenty of organizations looking for volunteers. Maybe you could seek out a local organization.
Another idea, you could look into signing up for an adult ed class or two at your local school. This is a great way to meet local residents.

where do you live? look up different moms groups in your area.
either meetup.com (moms groups, book clubs, any interests you have)
also momsclub.org (then go to chapter links) if you dont find your area, contact the main office and ask, they may just not have them listed on the website.
many moms groups welcome preggos (even before baby is born!) my friend felt awkward contacting them before her child was born, but she was glad she did, because she had friends to call when she gave birth, and was ready to get out for fresh air, etc.

Defintiely check out mommy groups. I have met some great people even through our local library.

When I had moved to NC I made most of my friends at work (which does you no good) and at the gym (specifically the classes).
I think joining some mommy and me classes will def help when the time comes!

after my friend had a baby this summer- she made tons, i mean tons of new friends thru a group called Big City Moms in NYC
maybe you can see if they have a group like that were you live???
I would think have a new baby would help in making new friends in a new place

And im not sure if the weather is nice where you live but maybe when the weather is nicer you might meet some neighbors. Taking the baby for a walk if some of the other moms are out with their children I'm sure you can strike up some conversations.

I think when you have kids you will make tons of friends.
I have lived overseas for almost 3 years and I have made a few friends, but no one like my friends home.

I was going to say have a baby and you make TONS of friends, but you already are! I just say be friendly, don't be afraid to say to someone, hey give me your phone number, lets get together! Don't wait for someone else to ask you because it might not happen. Get out to playgroups or classes with your new baby, and just be outgoing! Treat everyone like they are already your best friend. Thats what I do and it works pretty well for me!!

Honestly the whole kid thing really helps you make friends. While I still have my old girlfriends from way back most of my friends now are either Moms of my kids friends or neighbors.
..Get out there and walk and say hi to a neighbor or two..
..is there a LIF type thing where you can meet people?...
