How do you live?

why did I just watch this

It's moments like these that breathe life into you, you know?

I wish... I could always become enlightened to LIVE and not sweat the small stuff the way I do so well...

Appreciate every moment, you know?

i have small epiphanies, but most of the time, I worry and stress.

Do YOU live like that?

Unfortunately most of the times it takes a tragedy to make us appreciate life.

I try so hard to allow my son to just be a kid... My husband thinks I'm easy on him, but these days there are too many lessons... their childhoods are going to speed by.

If you have some time, watch this video... wow.

sorry for rambling...

Re: How do you live?

i can't watch the video at work... but...
my dad is a cancer survivor- he was diagnosed at 48 years old, and was the picture of health (owns a garden center so he is very physically active and in good shape). when he was diagnosed, it turned all of our worlds upside down, becasue if it could happen to him, it could happen to anyone. thankfully, hes doing fine- but it made us all look at life a different way.
my grandmom who i was extremely close to passed away about a month ago and that has affected me too.

life is just TOO short. TOO short to be working 12 or 13 hour days every day, too short not to take that vacation you've wanted to take your whole life ( thats why we booked a trip to hawaii for this summer!), and too short to realy sweat the small stuff. i kind of have the attitude of everything happens for a reason, and whats meant to be, will be...

Re: How do you live?

I live in a constant state of high anxiety... its gotten pretty life consuming and has heightened my sense of fear and worry to the point where I actually hold myself back from things. I hate it - and everyday I have to work on remembering that if I mess something up or don't do something perfect that the world will not end.

Dh and I also took on a lot for our age and we are work-aholics. We work long hours, feel guilty even thinking about taking off, and put a lot of pressures on ourselves. But we're currently taking steps to scale back and ease up bc everyone is right... life is definitely too short to stay like this.

eta: wow... I just watched the video. What an absolutely amazing man

Do you have children? My son snaps me back into reality REAL quickly...

I hate it, but I have to force myself to realize life is too short, and he deserves a life of laughter and not stress.

It was easier when he was a baby/toddler. There are so many LESSONS I have to teach him.... I have to discipline him.... I hate it hate it hate it...

Sometimes I'm too tired to be the carefree mom...

With that said- my son DOES experience a lot more than a normal child his age does. His dad & I are big into art so we bring him to unusual places (for a kid...) Being in NYC helps... We brign him to a lot of musical events. We both love house music and in the summer there are often day parties... we used to bring him PS1 before it got too well known & crowded... I just hope he takes the experiences with him and ENJOY life...

I don't. Not yet... And I'm so scared to pass this anxiety onto a child. We probably won't try for another 2yrs or so... but it scares me... and that gets me angry! I shouldn't be scared, I should be thrilled. But until I kick this obsession with worrying... I don't think I could be a good mom you know?

Your son is so lucky to be getting these experiences with you guys. It is something that, even though he's young, he'll remember forever and its something you can all enjoy together. Thats priceless. I want to be able to do that too.... its my motivation to keep trying

you know, I never thought what I do with him has any bearing on his growth as a person... But the kid LOVES to dance... like actual DANCE...you can tell he just moves his body according to what he hears and I can tell he actually enjoys it... I just realized this recently... it MUST be because the environment we put him in... My DH is a DJ and we're always playing deep house and dancing about... It makes me happy.

I struggled with AWFUL anxiety for years and I had the same worries... Interestingly enough-- I never really worried about being a mom.. it came easy and natural to me. and I was a single mom for 5+ years. Of course I have worries about HIM.. especially now since he's in school and being influenced by others outside of family... but something natural and maternal happens when you give birth. At least in my experience.. I can't imagine loving anyone as much as I love him.
