Not a popular method but...

I hold him down and put the dropper near his cheek in the back and let it out little by little. The more he cries the easier it is Chat Icon

Mason is sooo bad with it. He spits it out or has made himself thrown up. I just hide it in his bottle or mix it with applesauce

DS has been on oral heart medicine since 3 weeks old so he is a pro he usually just sucks it out of the dropper/syringe. On the occasions he doesn't I tell him its candy Chat Icon I know its bad to lie to him but he takes it

Re: How do you get your toddler to take medicine

I had this problem recently - it was so stressful! I found that the best way is to hold her down and put in in the back of her cheek (as another poster suggested). The other thing you should do is squeeze her cheeks together b/c it is harder for them to spit it out that way. I did that and put in a little at a time so it was easier to swallow. I couldn't hide the medicine in food b/c my daughter realized right away and then refused to eat. I tried every type of food! Good luck!

I used to do this for DS too. For DD I learned that she loves to take her temperature.

The deal was she could use the thermometer but she needed to take her medicine. She would take it before & then after to see if the medicine is "working". She's 7 & we still do it.

Is it tylenol or another prescribed medicine, prescribed medicines I get flavored...for some reason now she knows when she gets motrin to just take it...it takes a few times but she will just open up. I use to try to hold her down and struggle with her but now if I just let her go about her business and sit in front of her with the dropper she lets me give it to her.

My mom would put it on a giant spoon with a ton of sugar and a little water to thin it out. I remember we loved medicine time! ... a spoon full of sugar Chat Icon
