How do you force yourself to forget a house?

So I think I posted a while back about a house that we were interested in but it would have a delayed closing. We were ready to do it, we loved!
Well, they changed their minds, withdrew it from the market and decided they will relist in the spring...maybe...

Now...another house we were interested in dropped in price and the agent came back to usChat Icon We were able to negotiate a good price but it needs a lot. New kitchen, bathrooms, backyard needs some retaining wall helpChat Icon

DH and I are ready to have our own place again but I can't help but long for the dream house. It had so many nice things. It would take years and lots of money to get there.

How do I erase the other house from my mind?

Oh yeah, the dream house was a pretty wooded block in St.James, this is other house is also pretty but not as intimate in Commack ( near Hoyt Farms)

Sigh...

i agree... don't settle. because sooner or later it will eat you up and you will regret it. wait until the original house works out or another house comes along that you are truly happy with. good luck!Chat Icon

I wish I could wait it out but we have been living with my parents for almost a year and my kids need their own space as much my parents.

We need a house!!

I guess I need to convince myself I can make this other house even better and more personalized!!

Why not rent a house or apartment on a month to month basis? A house is a long term thing that I wouldnt want to settle on or talk myself into.
