How do you feel about gym babysitting?

My dd is 9 months, do you think this Is too young? Also if you go to a gym with nice babysitting in the Holbrook area...please recommend. Thank you

I know a lot of people who use it but personally, I'd never bring a kid who wasn't old enough to tell me what happened while they were in there. They aren't regulated like daycares are. It makes me nervous.

It depends on the gym and the babysitting. I woudl have used it at my old gym. I now go to Xsport in Massapequa and they have high school/college girls doing the babysitting and they just sit there on thier phones the entire time. There is closed circuit tv that you cna watch the room at the cardio machines and I have watched to see if I would leave my 16M old. I would not. If he was older then yes but not a baby.

I'm also in Holbrook and wanted to join gym. I went to la fitness to look at the child care. I wasn't terrible but I couldn't leave my 10 month old there. I just didn't feel like they were trained enough to watch real small babies.

I would never bring my kids to a gym babysitting . No matter what age.

How do you feel about gym babysitting?

I go to Retro Fitness in Lake Ronkonkoma and LOVE the babysitters there. My children are older, 3 and 5 years old, but during the day I have definitely seen little babies in there. The nighttimes are a little crazier with the older kids, so not sure if I would bring a little baby then. I actually use the one girl as my babysitter at my house now. They are college students, but all 3 of them seem to very competent and don't sit on their phone and are engaging with the kids.

I go to finest fitness in Patchogue and have been bringing my son there since he was 6 months - he is 17 months now. DD went there as a young toddler.

They have good babysitters for the most part. Only one time I walked in and one of the girls was on her phone and I didn't like that. She wasn't the normal girl though, she was filling in for someone. My son would cry when I left and I always saw them holding him. I have never seen anything that would make me not want to bring them. It can get crowded in there , esp when there is a popular class going on.

I live in Westchester but I use the babysitting at NYSC and I love it. There are often small babies there.

I won't use it with my kids because they allow all kinds of food in there and my DS has food allergies. When my older two are in school I've tried to leave my 2 yo DD but she cries, so I am pretty much wasting my money on a gym membership because my plan was to go during the day.

Personally against it....and any type of babysitting where you have no idea who is watching your kids, ex: Ikea etc.

Yes, always have. The daytime lady is that...a grown woman who is very competent. In the afternoons, there are teenagers. When DD#2 was too little to really get around, we'd bring her in the stroller and tell them to leave her in there. I guess you just have to see what kind of vibe you get from who is there at the time.

I started taking ds when he was 7-8 months old. It was a small gym and a college student (she was never on her phone) i would check in him constantly. I would warm up, stop and walk over to ck him. Then id run and go back and check on him. They had a big glass window so i could just peak so ds wouldnt see me
