how do you determine a good RE Agent?

My house has been on the market for just over a month and when I signed with my agent, I thought he was great. I was really impressed with his credentials and thought he had some great ideas.

Now I'm not so sure. I have doubts as to whether he is marketing my house well (or at all). He is slow to return emails and phone calls.

Why don't you tell him how you are feeling? If he isn't doing his job and you call him out on it then he'll get his @ss in gear! JMO Chat Icon

When we were selling Mom's house, the REA stunk. They just weren't hustling enough. We switched and sold the house faster with the advice and guidance of a new REA. In turn, she helped DH and I get the house we are buying now and the deal was done FAST and easy.

If you know the neighborhood it makes it easier. I know who in my area is moving properties bc I am always looking and I see who seems to sell.

That said recommendations are a great way to go.

Most important thing IMO is that it is someone who has experience in the area. If you are selling in say Bayside--use someone with an office in Bayside, who knws Bayside. They have a client base THERE, they know people THERE...likely it will move faster then a RE from Plainview selling a Bayside property...

Drive around your area--who has the most signs on the neighborhood's lawns? chances are they are doing something right Chat Icon
