how do you deal?
How do you deal with a colleague who is trying to outperform you at every turn and take credit for things that you actually did or established before s/he came into the position they're in and you were there first? It's got me so frustrated and my blood pressure boils. I'm not about competing. But now this has almost turned into a silent battle....it's petty. I emailed my group to say that our boss will be meeting with us tomorrow. I get an email back "Oh yes, I know. I've been emailing him all day and invited him." Umm, I saw him at 6:45 at our breakfast meeting yesterday and invited him. Does it really matter? No, but come on. How do you deal? I know people can see through him/her real intentions, but I'm just frustrated with the situation.

You copy your boss on any and all work you send to that person.

I haven't had that happen but I would keep all new ideas from them and tell my boss about them only. I would try and do it in a way that I didn't look like a brownnoser though. Keep all contact with them short and simple. No small talk.
