How do you clean a rusty knife?
My DH left one of my greatest knives in the sink last night and now it has rust all over it...Like reddish brown spots, some look drippy.
Is there any way to get it off? Is it safe to use the knife now? Or is it dangerous to use with the rust on it? (i don't plan on using it with the rust on it)

Re: How do you clean a rusty knife?
Noooooo brillo or sos - you'll scratch the knife.
Try lemon juice and a bit of salt. Rub gently with a sponge or dishrag, then rinse in warm water. True rust would be flaky - these are probably just brown spots on a stainless steel knife. Ugly but harmless.

Ok, I take it back then, don't use SOS.

Get some Bar Keepers Friend--it comes in powder and liquid form. I prefer the liquid. I got mine at BBB but I'm sure you can find it at Target or a supermarket.
It cleans off rust instantly, and is great for bathrooms, stoves, countertops etc. too!!
