How do we teach Abby to go for walks
She is out in our backyard all the time.
She walked when we first got her (we were at my parents house in Savannah and there is no fence so we had to walk her)
DH isn't really pushing the issue - because the walks remind him of Molly (This was their thing every night- and that's how she died)
I think it will be good for her to get out and get some extra exercise.
Any tips?
When we get her out there - she won't go off our grass.

You can try enticing her w/ a treat to walk further off of the grass. I saw Cesar do that on an episode.
Remember to walk w/ your head high and confident - so she knows to follow you and not the other way around.
I would try a regular lead as opposed to one of those expandable leads. You don't want her to get to far ahead or behind you.
Good luck!

While on your grass teach her "heel." Use treats. Then coax her off the grass while using this command. Are her pads still soft? It is possible that the cement/asphalt is hurting her paws.
Also ITA that smaller dogs should NOT be on retractable leads. They are dangerous and can really hurt your pup.
