How do I sell an expensive rug?
We are in the process of selling my stepfathers house and trying to figure out what to do with his things. I took a lot, even if it wasn't my style because I feel so guilty selling or throwing out his things. I know it sounds stupid but it's his stuff. Ugh
Anyway, he has this huge Persian living room that he got when he was still married to my mom and I was going to just sell it when we have an estate sale for like $100-$200 but my mom said that they got it at an auction for a few thousand dollars! How the heck am I suppose to sell this thing for any where near what it's worth? I think if I tried at a yard sale/estate sale I wouldn't get a lot because people are there looking for bargains. I am a huge yard sale junkie and have never seen anything that expensive. Is there a better place to sell this thing too?
I wish it matched my home because then I would take it. Image Attachment(s):

Re: How do I sell an expensive rug?
There are actually rug auctions for persian rugs, they should be worth more $$ with age if in good condition ect. We inherited two, one is from Iran and its is worth over 10k now. I know there was one in NJ ppl go and bid on them. Not sure if its worth your while to do this. It might be worth having it appraised...
