How do i leave my doctor?
so, i am really not a big fan of my obgyn. nice guy but talks too fast and when i was having some complications, i felt he could have done a better job of explaining ( he saw some blood in the ultrasound and thought i was spotting too much- meanwhile he never explained that it could be such a thing called implantation bleeding  )
anyhow, today i have an appt. and i plan to make it my last one.
normally after an appt. we walk to the receptionist and he tells her to schedule me in such and such weeks from now.
i dont plan on coming back. how do i put it nicely?
do i just say that i will be looking to go to a midwife? do i say that i am looking for another doctor? or do i let them schedule and cancel the appt. shortly after over the phone and say that i have found a new practice?
will my new doctor or midwife need my files?

honestly-- you don't owe them anything. I would just say that you decided to change docs, so you don't need to schedule another appt.

I would just say I will call to schedule the next appt. And then when you find another Dr., just ask for your records
This is what I did when I was PG with my DS. I switched when I was in my 2nd Trimester.

i switch dr at 9 weeks i just told the receptionist to transfer my records to the new doc they knew i wasnt happy there and they had been my gyn fir yrs before i got BFP

ughh! but i feel so weird doing that right to his face!
i guess i can say that i decided to find a doctor in nj- which is where i now live.
my current doctor is in the city.
that might be my best bet.

So you arent put on the sopt I would tell them you will call tomorrow with your availabilty to schedule your appt.
Once you find a new dr. you can call your old office and have them transfer your files.
You dont owe them anything. Most importantly, you need to like and feel comfortable with your dr.

I have an excellent dr. in North Babylon if you need a recommendation for a new OBGYN.

hello!?!!? i will def. do that. i will say that i will call for my next appt. and just not call back.
and have my midwife or new doctor deal with getting the records...

thank you for the recommd. but i live in nj. im actually 20 minutes from the lincoln tunnel so the farthest i will travel will prob. be the city.

my dr. never even offered me a printed picture of my first or 2nd ultrasound! i get so angry everytime i think about it! i really hate him for that.

the way I look at it-- you should not be worried about offending them, when they didn't take the time to give you the care you were looking for.
If anything-- they should be aware that you are unhappy-- and they are not doing their job well.

momtobe08, I am from Jersey as well and am seeing a great practice affiliated with Hackensack Hospital.
They have been great so far. My doctor is Dr. Gerardis. FM me if you want her information.
She's a real sweetie and doesn't rush you at all like some doctors do.
Hackensack Hospital is dubbed 'Hackensack Hotel' because they have great amenities. From what I hear you get your own room and get to select your food from a Room Service type menu. :D
When I left my doctor in NYC, I just called to cancel an appointment and said I would reschedule at a later time. They were persistent in calling me back about more blood tests so I had to tell them I'm switching doctors. It would cost $ to get the paperwork so I just left them there. :P
