DD is attached to hers - but only for sleeping (she is 15 mths) - I want to start getting her away from it too but not sure how. Im thinking cold turkey is the best. I think thats what some of the ladies did on here and just let them CIO....Chat Icon

Re: How do I get her to give up the binky?

Luckily, DS kind of decided on his own that he was done. At an event, at around 17-18 months or so, he handed DW his paci so he could play, and we decided that was a good time to stop using it. It did take us a few weeks after that to find all the ones he had hidden throughout the house, though.... Chat Icon Chat Icon

We're probably going to do the cold turkey thing with DD at around the same time frame... hopefully it works as well as before.... External Image

Re: How do I get her to give up the binky?

I've heard many moms saying this works - gather up all the binkies and tell her the binky fairy needs them for kids who dont have binkies....

I tell you, on more than one occasion, people have said it worked for them!!!

I think Rachel posted that sticking them with a pin so that they have a hole in them works.

Re: How do I get her to give up the binky?

I'm wondering the same thing DS usually only uses it at nap and bed times. Recently I have noticed, if he sees one he wants it and will cry for it. So I have been going around the house trying to find all the "hidden" binkys, so he can't find them.

Re: How do I get her to give up the binky?

DD is 20 1/2 mths old and has only used it to sleep....still does.

DS is the same...only uses it to soothe and to sleep.

Not sure how or when to stop
