How do I get a big black scuff...
off of my hardwood floors? DH and I had high hats put in on Thursday and one of the electricians majorly scuffed my floor. Any suggestions?

If you have hardwoods with gloss finish-do not DO THIS! My DH did and now we have a huge mark over a scratch that has no finish on it. I would try a pencil eraser and test it first in a closet

Yes it does! We have re-finished floors and DH took the Magic Eraser to get up some crayon from my DD and now the floor is dull and it actually removed the finish in that area he cleaned. So mad

it's probably the result of a rubber sole dragging across the floor. if so, use your fingers and rub the scuff. the rubber will ball and then you can clean w/ a damp sponge.

Try a dry paper towel (with ridges) and rub it. I know that trick works for tile and linoleum. Not sure about hardwood though.

I tried the magic eraser and it worked great! Luckily, we don't have a gloss on our floor because I did irt before I saw all of the other posts.  Thanks for your help ladies!

If it's that kind of scuff, I usually do this or just use my foot to rub it out (while wearing a shoe with a rubber sole). works fine
