how did you learn.....

Where did you get your baby knowledge?

What to buy, what brands, how the pregnancy should go, how you will care for your baby, etc?

There are so many brands out there, even something like choosing diapers is new and scary for me to decide.

I bought the "what to expect" book, but what else can you recommend?

Anyone else feel this way?

I think I am going to get the Baby Bargains book. Seems to be highly recommended. I also read Week by Week in your pregnancy to get info about the baby's development. I like it alot better than What to Expect - that book scares me!

Re: how did you learn.....

I just saw that Baby Bargains book and I have been look on here and it's heling a lot for ideas and what products I'll need.

Is there a really thorough thread on foods to eat and avoid?

Re: how did you learn.....

You know, I've had a fair share of experience with babies so I'm pretty versed with what brands I like & don't like etc. but it's mostly trial & error.

Some people swear by Pampers, others love Huggies.
Some people love Dr.Browns bottles others hate them.

Your best bet is to get a small sampling of different brands of products and just try them out.

I agree 100%. Its trial and error. You see what works for you. As for books, my advice is to steer CLEAR of the "What to Expect" series. Personally, they always scared the poop out of me, and made me feel guilty. The best pregnancy book I have found is "Your pregnancy week by week".

Everything else is learn as you go.

The Baby Bargains book is a great way to get info on brands. I used it to help me with my registry...

Re: how did you learn.....

best thing i did was take my sister with me when we registered. she gave birth in Dec., so she really knew what we needed and what was a waste.

now there is really not much i am doing, beside taking my vitamin and going to my dr appts.

I've been going by friends' experiences, reading on here, checking up on products on consumer reports.
