How did you know when to stop BFing?

Please share what caused you to stop.

I am on the fence right now. My supply is dwindling, and I feel like DS is getting less at the boob each time.

He'll be 3 mos on Friday.

I kind of want to stop, but I kind of...don't want to stop.

I'm not going back to work anytime soon, so part of it is in fact guilt that if I am home all day I have no real reason to stop. It's not all guilt, though - part of me really will miss the benefits to both of us.

I stopped around 7-8m. I could not pump consistently at work and my supply dropped. It was a good time to stop because that is when DS started having teeth!

I think I'd stop around the same time for #2 even though I plan to stay home.

with #1, it was a hot as hell june day, woke up with AF and this little angry troll crying for milk. he was 18 mos old

that was it, weaned then and there he was an addict though, on it still 7-8 times a day!

I stopped at 2m, we were both miserable.

I wasn't making enough, or he wasn't getting enough, IDK we were just so cranky all the time. And it just came down to, are we going to be sane and eating formula, or insane and breastfed.

Once I stopped, and then once I gave over the guilt and stopped crying about it, our lives where heaven.

I wanted DS to self wean, he is 18 months right now and is just starting to drop feedings, in the past month he has dropped his night time and before nap feedings.

Right now I am struggling with letting him continue to self wean or to help him along and wean a little faster, I really am ready to be done with nursing, but am also having a bit of a hard time letting go.

I pumped but I stopped when DS was about 6-8 weeks. He was also on formula because I wasn't producing enough at all...it was a PITA.

when I pumped I only got about 2 oz.. and then she got thrush. I wasn't letting her touch me with a 10 foot pole lol

eta: She was 3 months. I would have liked to go for longer but the formula was more convenient.

I stopped right around 6 mos. It was my goal and my supply was dwindling as I had gotten AF.

i weaned DS1 when he was 9 months. He had a moth full of teeth and one day, bit me and drew blood. That was it for that! I was only nursing 2x a day at that point and not pumping so he was mostly on formula anyway.
With DS2, I was home full time with him and EBF. I went to 15 months and then I went away for 5 days. He was on sippies at that point of whole milk so the transition was pretty easy.
