How can I fire my realtor? I need help.
DH and I are selling our 1 bedroom coop and hired a realtor who did a great job selling my dads house a couple of years ago.
Well he has done absolutely nothing for us. He hasn't listed our apt anywhere and has only had one open house on a friday afternoon. He says he has too much going on on the weekends with his kids and cant do one then. I had to list it myself on craigslist twice already. The apt has been ready for sale since June.
The contract we signed with him is for 180 days and it states if I sell using another broker, I have to pay them both (whatever each of their commission is).
Is there any way I can get out of this contract? Are there any other website I can post on that dont charge?

I was in a similar situation and just withdrew my house from the market.
I have to wait until after the original expiration date to list again but it might be worth it for you.
I don't care because it's not like my realtor was going to sell it before October anyway!
If you go this route, choose carefully next time....I know I will!

I would contact the realtor's broker and tell them how dissatisfied you are- they may either let you out of your contract or maybe they will find you a more proactive realtor

Unless you have a performance guarantee
you are stuck with your listing agent for the remainder of the contract.
Please always get a performance guarantee in writing, or written into the listing agreement.

We are using Coldwell Banker and they have a clause that if we are not satisified to give them feedback and the opportunity to correct it within some time frame (don't remember but it wasn't long - maybe a few days.) If we are still unhappy we can get out of the agreement.
Sorry you are unhappy!! Read your paperwork, maybe you have something in there letting you out for dissatisfaction

You are NEVER stuck with anybody.
You ask for the RE's broker.
You tell the broker you are not happy.
Give the broker proof they aren't doing their job.
Threaten to report the BROKER to the state unless you get an unconditional release.
It's blatantly obvious this RE is not performing up to expectations. Who holds open houses on Friday evenings?

The Realtor that we are using is the owner. There is no one else I can complain too. I guess I will just have to talk to him today when he comes here for the open house and see what he has to say.
