how can I find out

I had an accident 7 yrs ago ...it was a my bf's friends car and apparently he dint have insurance so I kept getting a letter from State Farm that I owed $13,879 from the truck I crashed into
It went to a collection agency and I called them and told them it wasnt my car and they told me I had to prove it and send them DMV records so I did and I never heard another thing about it.
How do I find out if I owe that money still....I dnt want to drudge up the past but I am in the process of having my name put on the deed to a house and I dont want to if its not cleared up yet

You can contact any of the 3 major credit agencies and see if anything related to that comes up in your credit report or you can contact that insurance company and make sure that this case is closed and nothing else is pending out of that.
