How are your recyclables organized
Spinoff of another post.
How does your town have you organize your recycling?
In Islip, we alternate weeks. One week it's metal, glass and Type 1 or 2 plastics, all in the same garbage can(s). The other week it's paper and cardboard. Every once in a while there is a S.T.O.P. program (forget what it stands for). It's for getting rid of paint, batteries, chemicals, etc.

How are your recyclables organized
Town of Brookhaven has single stream which is awesome. Paper, cardboard, paperboard, all plastics, cans, etc go out together with no sorting necessary. Our garbage has gone down so much since they implemented that bc they take a lot more than they used to. We have special drop off days for electronics and other things throughout the year.

Town of Huntington started this last year. I love not having to sort the recycling and not having to wait a whole 2 weeks to put stuff out

I'm Brookhaven too with single stream. I thought it was worth noting Brookhaven recycles plastics 1-6. I was so happy when they started that. Our recyclables are much more than regular garbage.

We recycle every two weeks. Plastic, glass, and metal go into the bins. Cardboard and paper can be boxed within one box on the side. We have special drop of days for other items. You can bring electronic waste to a site every day.

Re: How are your recyclables organized
If you don't mind, I'll join in . I'll post what I did in the other thread. I'm in Munich, Germany.
I separate:
The only thing that is picked up at the house is Bio, Restmüll, and paper. The rest of the things on this list you have to go to special deposit containers on certain streets or the dump.
Plastics (think packaging) with no deposit. There is a mark on the package, so you know it fits in this category.
Glass separated by color (brown, green, white)
Paper
Bio (food (raw), garden, egg shells, etc.)
Water bottles and other drink bottles (beer) for the refund at the supermarket, which is a fair bit of money that you get back.
All others (the rest called Restmüll), but with a limit per week. We have two cans for 7 people in our building.
Batteries, paint and exceptions you need to look up.
If you have a lot of garbage (say cleaning out your basement), then you need to call up the city and arrange a pick up. If you don't need a set date or time to pick it up, they will get back to you with a date and time and it cost 40€ per 15 minutes. If you want a set time, it's 90€ per 15 minutes. You could also just go down to the dump and separate it all by yourself (wood, for example), but there isn't a container for some of the stuff. Flea markets are a big thing here, as is buying second hand. No one wants to pay to get rid of your stuff. This cost is only in Bavaria, though. When I lived in another German state, you could arrange a free pick up and leave it on the curb.
Because of this system I have 3 garbage cans under my sink in our garbage drawer.
