How are you all going about getting a Pediatrician
Are you going by neighbor referrals, dr. referrals or other.
I just moved into my town about 6-7 months so I dont know all that many neighbors and my OBGYN is 20 mins away. So I am wondering if my OBGYN would have any recommendations for me that are near my house. Or is it best to ask the neighbors.
By the way I am in S. Huntington area if you have any good recommendations.

My cousin has worked for a pediatrician for 10+ years and he is absolutely amazing. There was no doubt we are using him (even though he's not in our area and have to drive about 15 mins to get there)MY cousin said that people come from Jersey to see him.
ETA: I don't know anyone in S. Huntington - sorry!

I am planning on starting this soon. I also plan to check the doctors on my health insurance providers website and ask family and friends in the area who they have used and were happy with. Then I plan on asking my OB who he has heard of and what his thoughts are. I trust my OB completely to be honest with me

My kids use Dr Caravella..He is on Main Street in Huntington right next to the town hall...423-0044. He's part of a group and he is trained as a neonatalogist. (which is why I picked him) He is part of a group of doctors but he is usually the one that we see unless it is an emergency. The other doctors are ok as well.
My DH's kids have been using Dr "steve" his last name sounds like steve but thats not the way its spelled..he is at Huntington Medical Group right on Pulaski Rd. I dont really know anything about him but my DH has never complained about him.

I am using Dr Cavanagh, he is part of the Hungtington Medical Group, its located on Pulaski Rd in Huntington/Huntington Sta. So far, we are very happy with him, he was recommended by my ob/gyn, she uses him with her kids. He was also recommended by a lot of LIF'ers. Let me know if you need any other info on him

It't actually Dr Sieve, with an I. I laugh b/c when I heard his name, I also thought it was dr steve and I thought that was really wierd, he is in the same practice with Dr cavanagh

We're using Dr. Scherz in Holbrook.

I keep forgetting to ask the dr. for a referral. Stupid preggo brain...and I've got 3 weeks until my due date!
I used my OB's referral for DD 6 years ago and it was a dream. Since she doesn't have a dr. here (in our time in NY, she hasn't been sick enough to be seen AND for check ups, i just scheduled them for when we were in NC...crazy, I know...), I plan to just get another OB referral.

Ask:
- OB
- LIF parenting board
- childbirth/BF classes, etc...
Make sure to check your insurance too!
