How are the roads?
I haven't been out yet, school and my work was closed yesterday and I had to call out today since my work was open, but my son's school was closed today. Are the roads very icy? My street looks like a sheet of ice but wasn't sure if primary roads were good. Was seeing if i should venture out since we have cabin fever in here! lol

VERY icy. It took us double the time to get into Queens this morning. The highway was fine, though everyone was taking their time just in case. But the side streets were bad.
ETA: I'm in Lynbrook.

I heard the main roads are great- like the highways.
But the side roads and even the main type road that lead to the highways are very icy.
I wouldn't go out if you dont' have to.
Ice is scary
It's not worth it unless you absolutely have to be somewhere.

I live in Rockville Centre and work in Westbury..the roads were terrible in both places. Very icy!

How are the roads?
Sunrise highway east between Robert Moses in bay shore and Lakeland in sayville was a disaster. Places where you couldn't see the road because there was at least an inch of snow and ice. I was shocked it was still that bad. Southern state east between 109 and Robert Moses was pristine.

Only half of the Wantagh was cleared. Hemptead Tpke was a mess. Northern State was pretty good. Oyster Bay, shockingly, was amazing.

Are they still bad now? We are suppose to go down to LI tonight to see my new nephew... My DS will be CRUSHED if we do not go. We would be there around 7/8 pm. He has literally been talking about it ALL week...

I am in lynbrook too. My dh and I drove home together in his suv last night from work after midnight. I left my car at work. Peninsula blvd was terrible. Merrick road was a little better.

Yep. The service road looks like it wasn't even plowed in some spots, All the streets running from sunrise down to montauk from bayshore to bayport are a crapshoot- down to pavement in some spots but more likely than not, rough, bumpy ice and snow. Montauk Highway is no better.

It probably doesn't matter now but the roads were terrible this morning. There wasn't one road I was on that had been plowed or salted, including the SS and the Sagtikos. 347 was a mess, too.
One of my coworkers was calling the town to complain and I hope she really, really gave it to them. I work in a hospital and the staff parking lots were full. You can close schools but you can't close hospitals. Perhaps the town needs to have as much respect for their nurses and doctors as they do their teachers.

The roads are bad tonight. Everything that melted today is quickly refreshing. Tomorrow hopefully it will warm enough to melt a lot more.

It's disgusting and disturbing how bad the plowing and snow removal is on LI. We pay ridiculous taxes and we live in the shit hole of the nation.
I wish you could start suing the town every time you get in an accident the day after a storm when the roads should have been cleared already.
What a dump LI is.
And soon the pot holes will begin. That they NEVER repair. I destroyed so many rims and ruined tires too.

How are the roads?
We drove from Albany to Levittown tonight. The main roads are fine, but the side streets are terrible. It looks like we got the same amount of snow, but our road conditions upstate are much better. The main problem in Levittown is everyone parks on the street. Declare a snow emergency and have alternate side of the street parking and then plow. It looks like they need to do at least one more pass on every side street we went down. There are still big mounds of snow inthe middle of intersections!

Garden city, Stewart Ave, Lorning in east meadow etc a mess, could kill yourself.
Most of the Rd I drove on today looked as if they werent even plowed
