house inspection
we are renting this house for 5 years and i wonder if i can request for a home inspection. theres some creepy crawling insects, ants and spiders all over the house coming from the basement. i clean everyday and i have 2 babies with me. we live upstairs but we can use the kitchen and bathroom downstairs. the basement is scary, dark, with lots of files from the owner of the house and full of molds. if i can request for a home inspection do i have to pay for them? please dont tell me to move out because we can afford right now. thanks in advance.

If you have a home inspection performed when you are purchasing a home you pay for it yourself so it would probably be the same for a rental situation. A home inspection does not cover checking for bugs a Pest inspection does-You can contact a local exterminator to take care of the pests. Personally, I would address this with the landlord-They are not going to take care of the spiders but if it is silverfish or another type of infestation it is their responsibility. If there is MOLD in the basement that is potentially a very serious health risk that you should address with your landlord. Home depot sells kits that allows you to test for mold in your home. It would probably be a good idea to get one asap.
