Hotel cribs-yay or nay
We are planning on going away for the Fourth of July and I am debating whether or not to use the hotel crib or just use the PNP. I want DD to be comfy, though.
Any experiences?

I worked in a hotel for years and the cribs were hardly ever used. With that said, I would actually say TO use the crib. They are in pretty good shape. Plus, less for you to haul with you. Ask for an extra blanket or two if you feel she may need extra padding.

Really? They are decent? I always heard horror stories that they were dirty. Good to know. It would be less to carry.

Re: Hotel cribs-yay or nay
Most hotels use PNP's these days, they take up less room when they are storing them. The two places we stayed at recently had very clean ones with clean sheets.

Re: Hotel cribs-yay or nay
When we traveled in December/January, they told me that I was reserving a crib and iit was a pack and play.
But it was clean and they had clean sheets as well.

I have used the cribs at Westin Hotels and have always been happy. I bring my own sheet though!

The 2 times I went to a hotel and they told me that they had a crib, it ended up being a PNP anyway lol

If it was a road trip and we were in the van, I'd take my own pack n play.

Re: Hotel cribs-yay or nay
We were just at a Loew's Hotel on Miami Beach and used their PNP. They put clean sheets on it everyday and left extra in the room. It was fine.

Re: Hotel cribs-yay or nay
I think it would depend on the hotel I was staying in. Some chains I would use their crib - others might skeeve me a bit and I'd bring my PNP
When we go to Italy Jack will be in the hotel crib bc I'm not shlepping a PNP to Italy.

Re: Hotel cribs-yay or nay
We stayed at a Hilton in March. DD was 6 months and we used their crib. Most hotels have porta cribs not full size cribs. They give you sheets that are not made for the crib mattress. Before our trip I bought 2 porta-crib sheets at BRU and washed them so they'd smell the same as her usual sheets. We packed her crib bumpers (not easy but worth it) to give her familiar surroundings. DH rigged it to fit in the porta crib. She slept very well in it for naps and at night the same as when we were home.
For the second part of the trip she slept in a PNP and woke up a few times at night (very unlike her) and didn't nap as well.
Here is a photo of the hotel porta crib. If you look at the side of the crib next to the doors you can see where DH looped the bumper around the outside to secure a full size crib bumper in a porta crib.

Re: Hotel cribs-yay or nay
We always use the PNP that the hotel provides. We bring our own sheet and I also have a "mattress" that is specifically made for a PNP, it's just think enough to make the PNP more comfy for DS but easily folds into the bottom of a suitcase. I got it at BBB

I agree with you. I hate sleeping in hotels for the reason that "everyone and their mother" has slept on the beds. Yuck.
I always bring my own PNP.

Re: Hotel cribs-yay or nay
We stayed at a relatively high-end hotel (business trip, so company paid.. ), so we figured the cribs would be decent. We were so nervous with that crib! It wasn't sturdy, wobbled a lot, sides weren't that high, etc.
Other hotels I've called about said that they can't guarantee that there will be a crib available. They were when I called, but if 10 families with babies took them all, there wouldn't be any for us.
After that one bad experience, and the risk of not having one at all, we always bring our own.

Re: Hotel cribs-yay or nay
We've always gotten a PNP at the hotels. We bring our own sheets and blanket. A crib sheet fits the PNP fine.
