hot dogs??
DD is obsessed with hot dogs all of a sudden - she is not a huge "meat" eater so I was wondering what is the best option for her??
low sodium -
beef hot dog?
chicken hot dog?
turkey hot dog?
any organic /no nitrate brands you can recommend

hot dogs??
We buy the Oscar Meyer Angus Selects all beef hot dogs. No artificial preservatives. To be honest, we usually only eat hot dogs in the summer when we grill a lot, so we as a family don't eat them all that much. Maybe if we ate them more I would do organic.

for the record - I hate hate hate giving DD hot dogs but she is the pickiest eater so I am trying to maximize this situation with a meat intake

hot dogs??
My kid eats hot dogs maybe 2 x a week and I give him Nathan's.
He eats his veggies and is perfectly healthy so I just go with it.

We get the Applegate Farms uncured turkey hot dogs. No nitrates except for what is naturally in salt. It's my go to meal when DD decides she doesn't eat anything anymore.

Does anyone have a package of applegate at home? Does it really contain nitrates as this website claims?

I believe it is naturally found in the celery powder. The Nature's Promise says celery juice powder in the ingredients but don't get labeled as having nitrates on that site. I don't know why one would and one wouldn't get the label.
Applegate farms also has some other questionable ingredients in their deli meats, so I just make sure to read all labels and go from there.
OP:
DD gets the Applegate Farms Organic beef hot dogs.

We get Applegate farms as well. FWIW, I don't like hotdogs but even I will eat these. They are really good. They have several different types of meat as well although we have only ever tried beef.

The package says it contains nitrates naturally occurring in salt and celery salt - or celery something, I looked at it earlier.

I buy Applegate Farms. You have to be careful though, because they sell organic hotdogs, and "all natural" hotdogs. The organic ones are sold in 12 oz packages. You can get them at Stop & Shop, Whole Foods and Trader Joes. The all natural ones can also be purchased at BJ's Wholesale club.
