Re: hospital tour
i am not delivering at Winthrop but planning to do a hospital tour. i signed up for pre-natal education classes through the hospital and one of the things they do is tour the labor and delivery rooms, nursery, and postpartum units.

Re: hospital tour
We did it and I definitely think it is helpful. They go over where to park, where you go when you get in, and you get to see the rooms, etc. Although honestly, if you are delivering in 2 weeks you will most likely not get to do a tour. They limit the number of people per tour and they book up fast! We called about 2 months before I was due and had a hard time getting in. I'd definitely call ASAP!

Re: hospital tour
i delivered at winthrop 2 weeks ago and never took a tour. it was pretty easy to figure out where to park and where the new life center is.

Re: hospital tour
I'm delivering at Winthrop and we took a tour, and I'm glad we did.
I just liked seeing the birthing room and having everything explained: Here's the bed you'll be in; here's how the stirrups come up but know that they won't be there until the last few pushes; here's the baby warmer and this is what it does... etc... I like feeling prepared and now I see that room in my head when I try to picture the "big day" and it's a little less scary for me.
Also, one look at a regular room will convince you to beg for a single the second you sign in when you're in labor.
