Hospital Bill after Birth
What was your process of paying the hospital bill after delivering your DC?
The day after I gave birth, the billing department came to my hospital bed and showed us an estimate of what our hospital bill would be. Then, they asked for a commitment payment. We paid Aprox 40% of what we were told it would be. About two weeks later, we got an email from our insurance company with itemized payments with providers on it, and we had no idea who they were. Now the bills are coming in and we have no idea what some of them are for and why the totals are over what my typical co-pay is.
I am getting a little confused. Is there someone at the hospital DH and I can go speak to to explain who these providers are, what we are paying for etc?
TIA

It all depends on your insurance. I have a hospital Copay and then 80/20 I think after that.
So I had the hospital stay, the Ped, my Dr, I had a csection so I had bills for that. I finally paid a few 1000 after what my insurance paid.
You should be getting separate bills for everything. So you will have to call each individual provider for bill explanation. The hospital will only deal with the actual hospital bll.

Your baby will have their own bill (Ped, room & board, lab, ect) and you will have yours (OB, room & board, lab, annestetia (sp?), ect). Make certain your child was added to your policy & ins billing accordingly.

the baby's bills will be separate - but if you already paid a significant amount, you should double check your EOBs and all of your bills with the ins. company to see what they billed and what ins. covered.

Hospital Bill after Birth
My dd is almost 1 year and I'm still confused. I had called my insurance twice before she was born to find out the copayment and was told it would be $250 a day, up to a max of $750 for my hospital stay. Not a bill I was looking forward to. But now a year later and we haven't received the bill. So I'm hoping maybe I was given the wrong info initially and hopefully I didn't owe a copayment after all. Id really be annoyed if I got a bill now after all this time.

I didn't have someone come talk to me in the hospital but, I had to pay a $300 copay for me and then I got billed separately for the hospital ped and the anesthesiologist.
ETA - It all depends on your insurance plan...

Re: Hospital Bill after Birth
The hospital mailed us a bill for our copay- which was $500. It came the week I got home.
