Horrible experience with Lakeside.. Updated
Update: I finally got a hold of a person after waiting on hold for 30 minutes.
She was nice and helpful, I'll give her credit. She told me that it was shipped yesterday and that I'll still be charged for it. She sent me an online UPS label to put on the package and send it back and wait for my credit. I confirmed I'll be getting my full refund but I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully this will be the end of my problems with them.
I can't believe they would ignore my request and ship it out to me, just to pay for shipping to have it sent back. What a waste. If they go under, I know why. They won't get my business again.

I tried ordering a wall tree from Lakeside Collection.
I place my order Monday, Nov. 24th. It said that most orders need 24 hrs to process and another 7-14 days in shipping time.
12/2/08: The order status was still pending. I emailed customer service from their website to check order status. I got a automated response to check order status online. I then responded to the automated response and asked how much longer it will be pending. I said I do not want it if it's going to arrive the day before Christmas. No response.
12/4/08: I checked the order status again and it was "backordered". Immediately, I emailed customer service through their website and requested to cancel the backordered item. I received the automated response to my query, but no actual response from a person.
12/9/08: I emailed them again (through their website) about canceling the backordered item. If it will take up to 14 days to ship (if it shipped that day), I'll receive it 12/23 and won't get to enjoy before Christmas. I got their automated response but no reply from customer service.
12/10/08: I received a response from a person saying my item has shipped and they cannot cancel it. I do not want it and I don't even think I'll get it in time for Christmas. When this item was backordered, I went out and got something else.
Hmm, you think they avoided me just so they could ship it out and still get the money?
I'm calling customer service again and am currently on hold, haven't actually talked to a person yet. I did try calling several times during this whole ordeal and have always got a busy signal (I did say that in my last email to them.)
So what do I do? Can I refuse delivery on this item and they'd have to refund me?

I would just refuse the delivery and contact your CC company to disoute the charges.

I agree.
They are the WORST with delivery and having items in stock. They are super cheap, which I guess is why they are still in business, but I had an order be supposedly on backorder for AGES, that I was trying to get for Easter and then they just cancelled the order and I had to contact them to get part of the shipping costs refunded since they charged me the entire amount for shipping when they only sent part of the order.
Grrrrr...
