Hormones strike again

Okay so it is not ideal that it only occurred to me around 3:45pm that it might be nice to send my mom flowers at work today. My dad (died last summer) ALWAYS acknowledged V-Day and gave her a sweet card and a heart-shaped box of chocolates. She is very generous w/ DH & I and is now throwing me a baby shower AND buying DS's crib, mattress, changing table and dresser..she even cooked me dinner last night and brought it to my house. Just to illustrate how wonderful she is.

So I was thinking of how my mom is lonely and is always trying to do things for us and thinks of us...so I look up Garden City florists (she works in GC) and start calling in a panic. After 5 florists turned me down, I finally found ONE who didn't laugh me off the phone for calling at 4pm on Valentine's Day. After the 4th one said no, I had to take a break to cry. Then the place I purchased the flowers from had 1 person arranging a dozen pink roses while another took my billing info so they could RUN them across town to her...this made me cry as well. Oh and so did the price...you can't even imagine. I didn't want my sister to get pizzed, so I put her name on it too and called her to tell her. She said "I'll give you 1/2 the money" then freaked when I told her how much I paid....but hey a dozen roses at the LAST minute on V-day, come on now.

But OH MY LORD the tears. I can't believe something like this made me cry so much, but just the thought of me not getting to do this after I thought about it was upsetting. I can't wait to have control over my emotions again.

Okay I'm done.

Re: Hormones strike again

UPDATE:

I just got an email from my mom at work.

“I just got the flowers…they’re beautiful Thanks so much, but you guys shouldn’t have. I’m leaving them at work so the cats won’t destroy them (however, the dog has more respect). Our receptionist said they were the best ones to come in the door today.”

…that last line brought more tears from me. Shocker.
