Homegoods Store
Does anyone know where the majority of their furniture comes from? Some of it is really nice and really inexpensive!

Re: Homegoods Store
Asia with China probably being the biggest exporter...if that's what you mean.
Some smaller pieces may come from Vietnam.

Their merchandise doesn't come from other stores. They have buyers who purchase from vendors like any other retail store. They just tend to buy smaller quantities. It's part of their marketing/sales technique. That way you're more inclined to buy it at that moment because they don't stock items, so if you don't buy it then, someone else may buy it and it won't be there tomorrow.

Re: Homegoods Store
Really? I think MANY pieces are from China, as you'll find these days in many stores. But I know they get "other" better pieces..my sister herself has bought a gorgeous bachelor chest from Pulaski there, also I have seen Lane pieces. Total hit and miss. I asked once and one of the salespeople told me many items came from a reputable store but I just can't remember the name now- I'll have to ask my sister ( she was with me) tomorrow and edit
ETA: Just remembered!! Neiman Marcus

Re: Homegoods Store
I think also they buy odd lots and returned goods from many major stores. There are lots of scratch & dent stuff there too. It's so hit or miss but I love it. Going and seeing 1 of something instead of 50 all lined up! Thinking of hitting the one in Port today.
I know the Christmas Tree Shop They go to all the gift shows and buy up all the booths - they have huge trucks that come w/ staff and they take huge rolls of saran wrap and wrap up the booths and truck them away.

Re: Homegoods Store
they do have buyers as a previous post said, but typically they will buy closeouts from the vendors. for example, a major retailer may not be selling a particular collection very well, so they would want to drop it and not take more goods from the vendor. then homegoods comes alongs and buys the good that the other retailer passed on at a discount.
