Home Renovation Costs
For those who did not do DIY renovations, how much did you save for a full kitchen / bath renovation?

Re: Home Renovation Costs
I dont know because we didnt do a kitchen, which can go from 15K-50+K depending on your tastes etc....
We did do our bathroom, 8x8 full gut, double vanity, deep tub (no jets) granite, etc. With no labor cost it was about $8K we could have done it much cheaper but I fell in love with a custom kraftmaid vanity, so between the vanity and the granite it was more than 1/2 the overall cost.
ETA: our contract estimates were 4-7K, that included some materials so I would guess if we had of used a contractor instead of DIY it would have cost 10-12K for our bathroom.

Re: Home Renovation Costs
when pricing out for our bathroom we got around 3/4K for the entire job. But I was doing subway tiles only in the shower, basic porcelain tile on the floor, regular tub, toilet and vanity and a door for the linen closet in there. If we were to add cabinets (which that is what I wanted) figure another $500-$700 and that was with the cost of my electrician to come in and put in a vent fan and redo the electrical work.
As far as a kitchen we are thinking around 10K tops to do that ourselves unless we get a gas line put in since I refuse to do that ourselves.
But we wouldn't put in a lot of high end fancy materials *unless i fell in love with it) because we would never get our cost back when selling our house.

Re: Home Renovation Costs
Have not had it done yet, but from the research I've done, I'm estimating that when we get a new kitchen it will cost over 30K (we aren't doing it ourselves) and 2 new bathrooms (one is a half bath & the other is huge) will come to about 25K (also not doing it ourselves). So we're budgeting 60K for all of that just to be safe.

Re: Home Renovation Costs
My full bath renovation with a company I'd never recommend was13k. Had we gone with the company I wanted it'd been about$16k, but I think we would have been happier with the quality. Lesson learned with the first house and next time we'll know better.

Re: Home Renovation Costs
We did our entire house. new floors, new drywall, lighting, paint, entire kitchen with plumbing and electrical, new patio. The only thing we havent done yet is the bathroom. We did all the work ourselves except moving the breaker box and we spent 20-30K.
