Re: Home owners claim question
I haven't but be VERY careful with claims. My aunt put in 2 within a 3 year period and got dropped.
If you can pay for it on your own do it

Re: Home owners claim question
Yes definitely don't freely file a homeowners claim.
I would never file a claim for under 3k, maybe even 5k.

Re: Home owners claim question
I am not sure about the claim for mold, I do know that we were dropped soon after putting in a flood claim.
I will say no matter what you need to get rid of that mold. That is very serious stuff and can really cause medical problems. Do not mess with it and make sure a professional company handles it. I know ServePro does Mold remediation. If you need to know the name of someone there let me know and I can give you a name and number.
Good Luck

Re: Home owners claim question
is the mold a result of a covered loss (pipe burst, etc?) if so, there may be coverage.
If you just have mold bc it's a damp room, there shouldn't be coverage.

Re: Home owners claim question
You have to 100% determine where the mold came from because that is going to determine if your Insurance is going to pay for anything. Was it due to a flood? Pipe Burst? Something that was pre-existing and just got worse?
They will most likely send an adjuster out to see what is going on there, but like the other posters said, it's not that easy to get an Insurance Company to cover a Mold problem.

Re: Home owners claim question
our house is unique because the basement extends past the actual house 25 feet... where the house meets the basement the foundation cracked and it caused a massive leak in that room.....
