home loan modification
With current mortgage holder. As part of stimulus pkg. Anyone know anything about this? How it works? What they do? Will it hurt my credit? Have any long term effects? Retributions? About a month ago I sent a letter to my mortgage holderand they just wrote me back asking for paystubs, a hardship letter and a list of expenses, but it makes no mention of what they are going to do for us. I am an out of work mortgage underwriter ironically enough and now I stay home with my son and go to school and waitress at night so our income has decreased significantly since obtaining the loan. In addition to that the value of our home has decreased by a lot since purchase. Just want to make sure I am covering all bases and doing everything I can to help our financial situation. TIA!!!

Call your mortgage company. They will walk you thru the process and tell you all the documents that are needed. You have to fit criteria in order to be eligible - They will let you know if you qualify.
